DCO application accepted for examination

We are delighted to report that the Morecambe Offshore Windfarm Generation Assets project has taken another step forward, following the announcement that our Development Consent Order (DCO) application has been accepted for examination.

We submitted our application to the Planning Inspectorate on Friday 31 May 2024, and it was formally accepted on 27 June 2024, meaning it will now progress to the pre-examination stage.

The application followed two rounds of consultation alongside ongoing technical engagement with stakeholders. Feedback received during this time has helped shape the development of our proposals.

We are pleased that our DCO submission has been successfully accepted by the Planning Inspectorate. This marks another significant milestone for the project.
I’d like to thank the members of the public and stakeholders for their input throughout the consultation process. We will continue to provide updates on the latest developments in relation to the project.”

Now that the Planning Inspectorate has accepted the application for examination, notices will be placed in relevant publications to advertise the relevant representation period and provide details about how to register to become an interested party in relation to the project. The process to register to become an interested party in relation to the project will be managed by the Planning Inspectorate and will open shortly, and details will be available on their website.

The examination is likely to take place later in 2024 and into 2025, and, following completion, the Planning Inspectorate will present its recommendation to the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, who will then make the final decision on whether the DCO should be granted. We anticipate a final decision being made on our application in 2025.
