Transmission Assets for the Morecambe Offshore Windfarm have received development consent approval by the UK’s Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero.
This milestone not only finalises development consent for the entirety of the Morecambe project, but it also marks a significant moment for over half a million UK households as another new source of renewable, home-grown energy will come online.
Reflecting on the consent approval, Holly Cartwright, CEO of COP UK and Ireland said:

Development consent for Morecambe’s Transmission Assets follows development consent for the project’s Generation Assets in the east Irish Sea in December 2025. Transmission Assets consent was simultaneously granted to the Morgan Offshore Wind Project, a separate offshore wind farm located in the east Irish sea and designed to connect to the National Grid substation alongside Morecambe at Penwortham. Morgan Offshore Wind Project is not owned by CIP or developed by COP.
The Morecambe project will continue to engage with local stakeholders and supply chain partners across the local, UK and global markets, while keeping communities informed as the project progresses through the next stages of design and delivery.
