Statement on the Transmission Assets for the Morecambe Offshore Windfarm
28 January 2026
Following recent announcements from JERA Nex bp and EnBW regarding the Morgan Offshore Wind project, we can confirm that Morecambe Offshore Windfarm is progressing as planned with its development and delivery, in compliance and coordination with all statutory requirements and regulations.
Morecambe is committed to supporting the UK’s ambitions to lead the world in combatting climate change, reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and embracing a future where renewable energy powers our homes and businesses.
Morecambe received development consent for the Generation Assets in December 2025, and it benefits from a secured seabed lease with The Crown Estate and an agreed grid connection date with National Grid. These milestones reinforce Morecambe’s strong viability and deliverability in support of the UK’s clean energy transition.
Our focus remains on close collaboration with stakeholders and regulators as we continue to secure development consent for the project’s Transmission Assets; the design of which remains unchanged from its outline in its application. A decision on development consent for the Transmission Assets is expected in April 2026.
We would like to acknowledge the collaboration that has supported the advancement of the Transmission Assets to its current stage of development, and to thank stakeholders for their continued cooperation and engagement.
